A Washington independent contractor agreement is a contract between a client and an independent contractor established for the purposes of creating a fair business arrangement. Since an independent contractor is not an employee, certain terms and conditions must be agreed upon between the two parties. An independent contractor-client relationship differs from that of an employer and employee in that the client does not withhold taxes, Social Security, or Medicare. Furthermore, a contractor is hired for a specific purpose/job/task and only on a temporary basis. Aside from outlining the independent contractor’s status, this type of agreement includes provisions pertaining to the services to be performed, compensation for said services, expenses and equipment, assignment and delegation, and other components essential to a legally binding employment contract.
