The Maine independent contractor agreement is a contract between a client and an independent contractor for the completion of a specific task or project. In addition to specifying the contractor’s independent position and responsibilities, the contract must also state how they will be paid for their service. Any expenses that the client is willing to cover should also be specified in the document. Independent contractors are responsible for obtaining their own liability insurance and paying their income taxes. Furthermore, independent contractors are not entitled to any benefits, such as vacation or pay. Once the agreement has been signed by both parties, it is enforceable by law.
