The Montana subcontractor agreement declares an established relationship between a primary contractor and subcontractor. Brought on to assist or provide a service or product, the subcontractor is to only report to the primary contractor. A subcontractor will only be hired by a contractor after the contractor has been hired by a company.

State Definition (§ 28-2-2101(9)) – “Subcontractor” means a person who has contracted with a contractor or another subcontractor for the purposes of performance of all or a part of a subcontract.
