The Michigan subcontractor agreement is a legal accord between both contractor and subcontractor. The contract will detail the kinds of good or services the subcontractor will provide as well as the expected duration. Because the subcontractor is a 1099-employee-basis, all payments and other inquiries will solely be through the hiring contractor.

State Definition (§ 570.1106(5)) –  “Subcontractor” means a person, other than a laborer or supplier, who pursuant to a contract between himself or herself and a person other than the owner or lessee performs any part of a contractor’s contract for an improvement.
