A Vermont independent contractor agreement is a legal form used to establish the terms and conditions of a business relationship between a client and an independent contractor in which the client hires an independent contractor to perform a service in exchange for financial compensation. Because an independent contractor is not an employee, their status is defined as such in the agreement, and they are responsible for their own taxes, unemployment and workers’ compensation, insurance, permits, and other employment obligations. An independent contractor agreement will outline key elements of the business arrangement like expenses, vehicles and equipment, termination of the agreement, exclusivity, and confidentiality.
