An Oklahoma independent contractor agreement is an agreement made between a client and an independent contractor whom they have hired to complete a service. Once signed by both parties, the agreement is legally binding and cannot be terminated unless both parties agree (or a breach of contract occurs). This agreement sets forth the provisions necessary to create a specific business arrangement, one that does not constitute a partnership nor an employer-employee relationship. The contractor is not under the client’s employ and, therefore, is given a different status with added responsibility – licenses, permits, taxes, benefits, unemployment and workers’ compensation, etc. In addition to these provisions, an independent contractor agreement establishes the amount of compensation the contractor will receive in exchange for their services, which are detailed on the first page of the document.
