New York independent contractor agreements are documents that outline the work that a contractor will perform for a client in return for financial compensation. Having a signed agreement is important for both parties to keep for their personal records and to use as proof in the event that a dispute arises. The document must list the agreement’s effective date, the services that the contractor is to perform, and the amount of money that the client must pay them. Both parties must sign the form for it to be considered a legally binding agreement.
