The Arkansas independent contractor agreement allows a client to establish working conditions for a contractor they intend to hire. Through the use of an agreement, the hiring party is able to define the services they require along with the compensation to be afforded upon the satisfaction of said services by the contractor. The document also supports the contractor’s claim to official “independent” status; independent contractors and employees are governed differently under Federal and State law. Creating a clear distinction between the two is essential as employees are entitled to receive workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, and other benefits from which independent workers are exempt.
