A film non-disclosure agreement is used when film details are shared between two (2) parties under the condition that the recipient may not disclose the information to any third (3rd) party. The releasor is generally a production company that owns intellectual property pertaining to a film (e.g., script, concept, set design, casting). To prevent confidential data from being leaked, and to ensure that competitors do not take advantage of the film information, the releasor may require all individuals involved with the production to sign the non-disclosure agreement. Anyone that breaches the agreement may face termination, monetary damages, and any other legal repercussions stemming from federal and state laws that protect trade secrets and confidential/proprietary information.
