The Minnesota subcontractor agreement is a binding document that confirms the services or product a subcontractor will be providing to an ongoing project. Considered to be a 1099-employee, the agreement is solely between the contractor and subcontractor. Once all duties are accomplished, it is up to the subcontractor is to seek compensation directly from the hiring contractor.

State Definition (§ 161.321(1)(c)) – “Subcontractor” means a business entity which enters into a legally binding agreement with another business entity which is a party to a contract as defined in the paragraph.
