The Virginia independent contractor agreement is a legal form that helps establish the terms of a business relationship between two parties; a client and the independent contractor whom they hired. The first page of the agreement details the type of services the contractor is to perform and the type of compensation that will be given in exchange. Other terms and conditions of the agreement include taxes, insurance, permits, expenses, equipment, workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation. Most of these responsibilities typically fall under the contractor’s jurisdiction. Because an independent contractor is not an employee, they are in charge of more employment responsibilities. The purpose of the agreement is to create a business arrangement that’s for both parties which, once signed, cannot be terminated unless both the client and contractor agree.
