A Rhode Island independent contractor agreement is a legally binding contract between two parties; a client and an independent contractor. The primary element of this contract states that the independent contractor has agreed to perform services for the client in exchange for compensation. The services, along with expenses, equipment, and other provisions, are outlined in the agreement. In addition to this section of the contract, an independent contractor agreement aids in clarifying the relationship between the two parties. This relationship is not an employer-employee relationship but a temporary arrangement, wherein the contractor claims more responsibilities, such as workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, and income and self-employment taxes.
